The theme for these pieces is transitional states, metaphorically moving through life/space/experiences but also there is a literal visual movement through the pieces as the abstract content is placed in contrast with identifiable architectural features, like wrought iron gates, fences or railings. There are suggestions of physical boundaries in these visual motifs.

How I design these paintings reflects the transitional theme, as I begin my making a complex layered collage of found materials, often utilising things like maps, remnants of graph paper and text from old books. These collages are then digitally manipulated and layered with my own photographs, before the final edited composition emerges.
