Jasper McKinney, MBE

Jasper McKinney MBE is an established practising artist based in Ireland and France making paintings, drawings and sculpture. McKinney studied at Brighton College of Art and Slade School of Fine Art, London, awarded an MBE in the 2013. He shows artwork internationally which reflects his experiences and imagination, along with his excitement and optimism for life.

Hydra Honestly is a continuation of a series digital drawings created in 2021 for an International Exhibition organised by the Centre for Energy Ethics at the University of St Andrews. this series and investigates the regenerative ability of the Fresh Water Polyp Hydra. The lack of senescence evident in the Polyp Hydra is a comment on the sustainability of cells and organisms. The piece aims to start discussions based on the importance of the sustainability of water for life as climate changes impact on the world on water distribution around the world and regeneration and growth drawn from seeds.

His hope is to inform the transition to renewable energy sources for a better energy future sustainable for us all, along with a respect for water sources and usage in the years to come.
