My series of terracotta pots have developed from an old family recipe book containing the recipes used by my Nana and Great Nana which were typed up on a typewriter by my Mum in her Home Economics class when she was at school and formed into a small recipe book which has been now passed to me. The idea came about because of the recipe books age and how often I use it , it is now “falling apart at the seams”, literally, so I came up with idea of preserving these memories through ceramics, as ceramics is profoundly known for its permanent structure and durability. I work with several techniques to transfer these recipes from the book to the clay body including mono printing and the use of decals, a method of taking a photograph/scan and melting it on to the clay in the kiln.

The pot is focused on several sweet and savoury recipes found in the family book.
